The Admirals Landing was converted from the former Wares Warehouse on the docks by proprietor Peter Woods and after extensive renovation it was opened on the 12 December 1984.

The Admirals Landing was at the time of opening one of the biggest pubs in town with a long bar and nautical theme.

Peter Woods was personally involved in the designing and layout of the premises, had a keen eye for detail according to promotions manageress Collette Burdge.

The Manager was Dean Downer and who had 20 plus to help serve the locals.
