The original Hope Inn which was probably built in the early 1800's was demolished in 1929 during Frederick Cavill's time as Landlord

The Hope Inn (pictured above) of Mock Tudor which was subjected to much controversy as the people of Bridgwater thought it was too good a building to be demolished and should have been used in the plans and part of the building of new homes on the site, by making it a community asset, Sedgemoor District Council later allowed the demolition to go ahead.

Partial demolition was started in 2014 but halted after the people of the town complained, there was then an appeal by the company and demolition was finally completed in December 2016
