  Pig & Whistle - Parkway  
 

June 1964 saw a provisional grant of a full licence for the new public house to be called the Pig & Whistle at the junction of Parkway and Moorland Road.

The Pig & Whistle was built by Starkey, Knight & Ford in 1965 and first opened on Tuesday 20th July.

Frederick Edmund Villis being the first Landlord.

Licence was surrendered on November 8th 2013

Mr D J Cooper of Starkey, Knight and Ford Ltd told the Magistrates it had long been the intention of the company to erect a large and modern public house to serve the Estate.

The company also asked that the existing licence of the former Nags Head in West St to be transferred to the new pub, the Nags Head has since been demolished.

The Pig & Whistle was demolished in March 2015 work started in December to build 10 homes on the land.
